Repairs, Alterations or Upcycling Class
Duration: 4 h ♦ 4 participants max. ♦ Sewing machines, tools & extra fabrics/trims included ♦ Cost: 95€ (20% off during the week)
Do you have clothes you don't wear and at the same time you don't want to buy anything new? Then this class is for you. We will show you different techniques for repairs and alterations or we can work together on an exciting upcycling project of your choice. You can bring either clothing that needs altering or clothing that you want to turn into a new upcycling piece.
Bring the clothes you want to change
From mending, patching, changing zippers, shortening, fitting, modifying neckline shapes, etc. we will assist you in refreshing your most beloved pieces. If you want to completely redesign something you don't wear, we can help you plan and carry out your upcycling process.
For upcycling, prior to participation, kindly email us more details about what you would like to create - some reference pictures or a rudimental drawing would help us to make an idea.
What to bring
♦ pieces of clothing you care about and would like to invest some time to make them fit better your body or style (for repairs & alterations);
♦ clothing you no longer wear, but which still have a good fabric that can be reused for upcycling a new piece (jeans, shirts, hoodies, T-Shirt from more solid materials, any items with a generous amount of fabric that you can imagine to use for another piece);
♦ household items with defects that, if cut out, could make for a nice fabric for a new clothing item (bed sheets, curtains, table cloths, towels, etc.)
Want to upcycle something but have no ideas?
If you are curious about upcycling, but don't have a project in mind email us with pictures of the clothing you have and some words about what you like to wear and we can find a project together.
Here are some projects previously made in class that can inspire you:
Stained sweater turned into a playful cutout top
Grandpa's blazer turned into a cropped set
Several jeans turned into a kimono
Skirt turned into top
T-Shirt turned into top
2 pairs of jeans turned into culottes
Jeans turned into skirt
Shorts turned into lingerie
Towels turned into a top
You will learn
♥ how to use the domestic sewing machine's functions and settings according to the fabric and stitches needed for your project;
♥ the measurements, cutting, and seam opening techniques you will need in all your sewing & upcycling projects;
♥ how to plan your process for an easy sewing experience;
