Do you feel you have nothing to wear, when in fact your clothes are piled up, waiting to be repaired or repurposed? Then this class is for you. We will show you different techniques for alterations or we can work together on an exciting upcycling project of your choice. 

You can bring several repairs & alterations

We will assist you in anything from mending, patching, covering stains & holes, to simple alterations such as shortening, lengthening, tightening, or adding pieces of fabric. We recommend bringing around 3 pieces for simple repairs and 1 - 2 pieces for more complex alterations. The rhythm of completing your project/projects depends on factors such as project difficulty, fabric difficulty, skill level. 

Or you can bring an upcycling project of your own 

If you already have an idea and the needed clothing to transform, you can choose to make an upcycling project. Prior to participation, kindly email us more details about what you would like to create - some reference pictures or a rudimental drawing would help us to make an idea.

Not recommended for beginner projects

• tightening of jeans, winter coats or other pieces from heavy weight fabrics;

• alterations on clothes from fine, synthetic fabrics (satins, organzas, chiffons, crepes);

• refitting for pieces that are more than 1-2 sizes bigger.

You will learn

♥ how to use the home sewing machine's functions and settings in order to complete your desired project;

♥ the measurements, cutting, and seam opening techniques you will need in all your repairs & upcycling projects;

♥ how to plan your process for an easy sewing experience;

♥ how to assess the difficulty of different alterations or upcycles, useful when buying second-hand clothing with the specific purpose of changing them;

♥ the "how-to"s of popular repairs and alterations; 

♥ different sewing techniques that will allow you to bring your idea to life.

When & Where

The classes take place in our shared upcycling atelier on Friedrichstrasse 23A, 10969 (close to Checkpoint Charlie).

Each class consists of a session of 3,5 h.

Regular group classes consist of a maximum of 4 participants per class, to offer everyone individual learning time and a complete understanding of the sewing process.

Home sewing machines, all the extra fabrics & trims needed, all tools and snacks are included.
